BLT Kitchen

Since 2007, Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) has been implementing the Busog, Lusog, Talino (BLT) School Feeding Program nationwide, which aims to address short term hunger and malnutrition among public elementary pupils. In 2012, Alrose Group of Companies became the Local Implementing Partner of JGF in implementing BLT School Feeding Program here in Iligan City. In 2016, the Department of Education’s (DepEd) budget for its School based Feeding Program (SBFP) covered all undernourished pupils from kindergarten to Grade 6 in public elementary schools in the country. In support of this, JGF shifted its approach from direct feeding to establishing BLT School Feeding Kitchens. Alrose Group of Companies shifted also to BLT School Feeding Kitchens and the pilot Central Kitchen is Bagong Silang ES and now it has a total of 4 Central Kitchens with the help of our Local Government Unit (LGU) and DepEd Iligan. The Central Kitchens are: (1) Bagong Silang ES (2) Francisco Laya Memorial Integrated School (3) Sgt. Miguel Canoy MCS (4) Sta.Felomina CS
Through partnership with DepEd and local stakeholders, the program enables public elementary schools to conduct its school feeding in an efficient and effective manner. The BLT Kitchen is a standardized cooking facility equipped with industrial and food-grade cooking equipment and tools able to cook the meal (viand and rice) for up to a thousand student beneficiaries. The BLT Kitchen model employs the refurbishment or construction of a kitchen in an identified lead school to serve as the central food production area for identified nearby satellite schools. The BLT Kitchen serves as the venue for cooking nutritious viands to be provided to satellite schools, while each school takes care of cooking rice.
